Whether you’re an established business looking to streamline your workflow or an aspiring artist eager to break into the industry, we provide the tools and exposure needed for success—all with 0% commission. Your business is yours, and your pay is your pay.
For customers, our platform simplifies the process of finding the right commission artist. You’ll be instantly connected with dependable professionals who can meet your exact specifications and budget. And as more artists with a broader range of skills join the platform, we expect to see greater price variation. So, if you’ve previously felt priced out of commission work, things are about to change.

Meet the Co-Founders

Harry | Master of The Guild
My background has always been in creative work – acting initially, then in writing and teaching. In 2023 however, illness meant I had to take a year off work. Being in the hobby, I spent much of that time painting and what began as a way to fill the days, slowly became something more: the idea for Hobby Hires. Now, I’m dedicated to building the platform and shaping it into a service that helps artists find opportunities, connect with clients, and feel supported in their craft. I want Hobby Hires to be more than a tool – I want it to feel like part of the community itself, grounded in fairness and accessibility. My hope is that, in time, it will make a lasting contribution to the growing commissions industry and create space for others to thrive in it. I’m especially keen to champion the credibility of miniature painting as a profession, and to see it recognised as both a serious artform and business in its own right.

James | Master of Works
As Chief Operations Officer at Hobby Hires, I’m deeply passionate about creating opportunities for artists, makers, and hobbyists to thrive. I believe that dedicated community spaces are essential – not just for practicing and developing skills, but also for fostering connections between people who share the same passions. At Hobby Hires, I’m excited to help build a platform that empowers creative individuals to turn their talents into sustainable careers. By supporting artists and hobbyists alike, we’re not only helping people grow personally and professionally, but also strengthening the vibrant community we all belong to. Together, we can create a space where creativity is nurtured, opportunities are shared, and passions are transformed into livelihoods.

Tim | Master of the Feast
I’ve spent the last eight years working in digital marketing and branding, but I’ve always had a creative and techy streak. These days, I’m the guy behind our marketing, branding and development of the Hobby Hires website, making sure it runs smoothly, looks beautiful and is easy to use. My love for the hobby goes way back to 2002 when the Battle Games in Middle-earth magazine hit the shelves. I started with Lord of the Rings minis, then got hooked on Warhammer 40K and painted my first Tyranids (badly)! Life happened, I drifted away, but came back a few years ago with a lot more patience and way better brushes. When Harry asked me to join him in starting Hobby Hires, I couldn’t refuse. I loved the idea of creating something that helps artists get the recognition they deserve and turn their passion into a real career. Oh, and as a dad of two little girls, free time is rare …so I’m hoping to use Hobby Hires myself one day to get my own armies painted!
